FAQs

Where can I go for service repairs that are covered?

You can go to any dealership or service center that has an ASC Certified mechanic.  Typically you will want to go to the corresponding franchise dealer that carries your specific make of vehicle.  However if you have a mechanic that your family has used, as long as he is ASC Certified, he can provide the service for your vehicle.

What happens if my dealership/service center does not work with your company?

Generally all dealerships and service centers are very eager to keep or earn your new business.  If neither the dealership nor your mechanic are currently partnered with SOLO, then have the service center call our claims department at 800-###- with the necessary repairs to be approved for ACH payment so that you will never have to come out of pocket for a repair.

What does “exclusionary” mean when describing SOLO’s extended service contracts?

Exclusionary means that instead of listing the thousands of covered components that are covered, we list out the very few components that are not covered which will be directly related to cosmetic issues, think of this as things that you current insurance company covers, as well as maintenance issues.  These are the things that you’ve been taking care of since you been driving, oil changes, spark plugs belts hoses, etc.

Do I have a deductible with SOLO?

That is another great thing that sets SOLO apart!  You will never be surprised with needing to pay a deductible, ever!

If I breakdown, will SOLO pay to have me towed to the nearest dealer or service center?

If your vehicle is in need of non-accident related towing, nationwide SOLO will pay up to $100 to tow your vehicle to the nearest dealer or service center.

How do I file a claim?

You or your dealer/service center can call our toll free number 800-###-.

Do I have to pay for a rental up front?

It depends, dealerships may have rentals available and you may not have to pay up front. If you need to go through a local rental agency, then you most likely would pay for the rental up front and get reimbursed once the repair is completed.

How do I check the status of a claim?

You can contact claims directly at 800-###-.

How are SOLO’s Extended Service Contracts different from my auto insurance coverage?

Auto insurance covers things like collisions or accidental damage to your vehicle—such as an accident, fire, or vandalism and theft.  A SOLO Extended Service Contract covers the mechanical and electronic parts of your vehicle.  Most auto insurance policies do not cover mechanical breakdowns, unless they are the direct result of an auto accident.  With a SOLO Extended Service Contract, your engine, transmission, A/C system and other vital components are protected anytime they break down or malfunction due to wear and tear.  Refer to your extended service contract for exclusions.

How are SOLO’s Extended Service Contracts different from my Manufacturers Limited Warranty?

Vehicle warranties sold by manufacturers cover repairs on your car up to a certain age or mileage criteria, typically 3 years or 36k miles or 4 years 50k miles, due to manufacturer defects.  A SOLO Extended Service Contract covers failure due to wear and tear and is designed to pick up where your existing warranty drops off, to cover all of the gray area and loop holes and give you a true blanket coverage well after your factory warranty has expired.  This gives you the peace of mind that you’ve got continuous protection against costly auto repairs.

If my vehicle is pre-owned do I qualify for an extended service contract?

Absolutely, and if it is still under its manufacturers warranty we can still offer you our Platinum coverage which is by far the best option for you because it is an exclusionary coverage.  If your vehicle’s manufacturer’s warranty has already expired, we still have extended service contracts that are some of the most comprehensive in the market.  Ask your agent for more information.

Are SOLO’s extended service contracts transferable?

Yes they are, the original purchaser may transfer the policy to whomever he or she sells or gifts the vehicle to.  Please contact our customer service directly at 800-###- to discuss your options.

Do you offer extended service contracts to businesses?

Unfortunately SOLO does not offer extended service contracts on any type of vehicles that are commercial, fleet or livery autos to include Uber, Lyft, Alto, etc.

Can I make performance enhancing changes to my vehicle?

You will need to disclose any alterations to your vehicle at the time of purchase as well as disclose any future plans to your agent.  He will be able to inform you what performance enhancements that can be approved as well as the ones that will void your existing warranty and SOLO’s.

Can I cancel SOLO’s extended service contracts?

Yes, all of SOLO’s extended service contracts are fully cancellable on a pro-rata basis. If you’ve paid in full for the policy, the refund will be mailed directly to you within 30 business days.  If you’ve financed the extended warranty, then the refund will be forwarded directly to the lender minus any cancellation fee’s.

When does the warranty go into effect?

SOLO’s extended warranties are active upon the 30th day of coverage.

My vehicle is only a year old, why should I purchase an extended warranty now?

For two reasons, 1st extended service contracts pricing mirrors that of life insurance, meaning the older the vehicle, the higher the cost of the policy due to the risk of mechanical failure being higher.  Finally you want to make sure to purchase an extended service agreement before your factory warranty expires because once it expires, you can no longer get the same type of Exclusionary coverage.

Can I buy this same coverage from the dealership?

Yes you can, but since we remove multiple middle partners from your warranty - you get to buy it at a fraction of the cost.

Is routine maintenance covered?

No, that is the only thing that will remain your responsibility, such as oil changes, tire rotations, spark plugs, etc.
